A ZIP gallery for choosing pictures before you extract them
Use this free ZIP image viewer to turn a local photo archive into a thumbnail gallery. Preview pictures at a larger size, search file names or folders, then filter by image format. You can explore a stock photo or design asset bundle without extracting every file to a folder.
How to extract selected images
- Choose a ZIP file, or try the sample archive.
- Browse the thumbnails. Click an image for a larger preview and tick the images you want.
- Download an original image or a new ZIP containing your selection. ZIP exports keep relative folder paths.
How do I extract only JPG or PNG images from a ZIP?
Open your ZIP in FileSprig ZIP PICK, choose JPG or PNG in the format filter, then select the pictures you need and choose Download ZIP. JPG also includes files ending in .jpeg. This selects existing images; it does not convert their format.
- Choose Clear selection if you previously selected other pictures. Changing the filter keeps earlier selections.
- Choose a format, and optionally search a filename or folder path.
- Choose Select results, or tick individual pictures. Check the selected count before downloading.
Your new ZIP contains all selected images, including any selected under earlier filters, with their relative folder paths and original file bytes preserved.
Can I preview ZIP pictures without uploading the archive?
Yes. FileSprig ZIP PICK reads your chosen ZIP and decompresses supported images in your browser memory. You do not have to unpack a folder onto your computer or send the archive to a server. Loading the website and trying the sample still use the network.
Start with the sample to see the thumbnail gallery before opening your own ZIP. This is an image picker, not a general document viewer: it does not preview PDF, Word or video files. It does not scan archives for malware.
Frequently asked questions
Are my ZIP files uploaded?
No. Your chosen files are read, decompressed and repacked in your browser. Loading the website and the optional sample ZIP involves network requests.
Which formats and file sizes are supported?
PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF and SVG. ZIP files can be up to 128 MB, with up to 256 MB of unpacked image data, 32 MB per image and 2,000 entries. High-resolution images may still exceed your device’s available memory.
Why won’t my ZIP open?
This tool supports ordinary Store/Deflate ZIP archives. Encrypted, split and ZIP64 archives, RAR and 7z are not supported. Damaged archives produce an error; images the browser cannot preview are skipped.
Will downloading reduce image quality?
No. Exports preserve the original file bytes without re-encoding. Single-image downloads use the filename; ZIP downloads retain relative folder paths.
Do I need an account or a paid plan?
No. ZIP Pick stays completely free and is not part of Pro. The image compressor is free for up to 3 images per batch. Neither tool requires an account. A Pro edition is not available for purchase.
Can I preview a ZIP without downloading it first?
If the ZIP is already on your device, you can preview its images without unpacking a folder or uploading the archive. FileSprig cannot inspect a remote ZIP URL: save a remote archive to your device first, then choose it here.
Can I share the ZIP gallery or resume it after a refresh?
The gallery exists only in your current browser session. It does not create a hosted album or a share link. Refreshing clears your selection, so download the pictures you need first. You can share the original or exported ZIP and let the recipient open it on their own device.
